Exhibition of Gion Festival-relared artworks

At Fukujuen Kyoto Flagship Store, in association with the Byobu Matsuri (Folding Screen Festival), we exhibit Gion Sairei-zu Byobu (Folding screen of the Gion Festival) on 1F Kyo no Chaho, and Rakuchu Rakugai-zu Byobu (Folding screen of urban areas and suburbs of Kyoto) on 5F Kyo no Chagu.
Exhibition period: July 1 to July 30, 2023

What is the Byobu Matsuri ?

During the Gion Festival, old houses and long-established stores in each Yamahoko town display heirloom folding screens, rare calligraphy and paintings, etc. once a year, which also serves as airing, and is called the Byobu Matsuri.
This is a rare opportunity to come into contact with gems that symbolize the culture and wealth of the Kyoto townspeople, and is therefore an event that is worth seeing, not only to see the Yamahoko floats.
